People often shake their heads when they hear that I have a college degree and make coffee for a living. They see it as wasting away the college degree that I paid thousands for. "Get a real job!" they say. And I just think, this is a real job. Let me get one thing straight-- I love my job.

When I went to University to get an English degree, I knew that I would have to get a day job. The plan was never to get a 9-5 desk job. I would go absolutely stir crazy if I didn't get to be on my feet all day. I knew that I was not going to graduate and become a published writer right off the bat. I spent my days like many other aspiring writers after graduation-- working on my writing in my local Starbucks, trembling after one too many cups of coffee. When it came time to find a salary that could help me make a living while I worked on my writing, barista was a job that just made sense.

As I learned more about Starbucks mission statement about the human connection, I knew that it was a match made in heaven. I get to use my passion to make coffee and my voice to create human connections with a diverse group of beautiful souls? The core mission is exactly the same as my life mantra. In words of Celeste Headlee, “I found my mission, and forgot about the job title.”

My name is Mrs. Stacy Scucci and I am the Dynamo behind The Happy Monday Project. I may earn a living as a barista, but I live my life as a proud wife, mother, positive vibes enthusiast and storyteller. Black coffee, chasing the light, and laugh-lines are my love languages. I believe in meditation, serendipity, and the power of making wishes at 11:11. I'm always prepared to be amazed and I'm never disappointed. By day, you can find me magnifying the little mundane miracles in this beautifully imperfect world. By night, I am working hard coming up with ways to empower the world to surrender their negativity and instead, practice reckless optimism as the start each week.

The time is not tomorrow-
The time is NOW

The news and social media sensationalize grief and ugliness. I challenge you to stop feeding into the negative energy, turn off the news and love! Hold the door open for a stranger, buy a cup of coffee for the beautiful soul standing in-line behind you, smile at someone who looks like they need some encouragement. You never know who needs help to stay afloat.

The world is changed by your example, not your opinion. You will never influence the world by being just like it. Seek my energy out on Mondays and I promise to make you smile. I'll be the one with the flower headband and endearing enthusiasm. Mondays don't have to suck!
